Which one are you?

This illustration, and it's dire warning, remind me of one of my favorite children's: Jane Langton's  The Diamond in the Window.  In one chapter while on a metaphysical plane the two youngster Eddie & Eleanor Hall are able to see themselves going forward in life having succumbed to a few incidents of vanity and stubbornness.  Having pursued the images of what would become of them behaving as such, by following the images present into what their future selves would look like, they then find that getting back to their original selves increasingly hard.



The book characters and story have always stayed with me.  I highly recommend it.

HOME EXHIBIT PLANNED

Dwelling Rises on Terrace in Rockefeller Center

        NEW YORK -- On the second-floor terrace of the International Building at 51st Street near Fifth Avenue, a seven-room dwelling is under construction as the focal point in what is designed to be a home-building center and exhibit. It is being erected by the Rockefeller Home Center, successor to the Permanent Exhibition of Decorative Arts and Crafts (PEDAC).

        The dwelling is of modern design by Edward D. Stone and the exterior is of redwood. In the first floor is a "three-purpose" room with a glass-enclosed side opening onto a terrace. Construction of the exhibition house, which is sponsored by Collier's magazine, is under direction of Irons & Reynolds, contractors.

Work out wear

One of our ranks at the gym  had a major accident while squatting the other day.  Never never never underestimate the importance of proper workout attire!

 I often wondered what happened to Amy Linker.  Her character often reminded me of Wendie Jo Sperber, another of my favorite comedic actresses.

I spent the weekend gardening,  i.e. transplanting a tree, 5 rose bushes and some shrubs that were not happy in the spots they were in.  Although I do not mind this kind of physical labor at all, I kind of loathe pruning and would kill for the machine above.

Fact and Fiction.

The Mary Poppins books were as beloved by me as the Narnia, Oz and  Borrowers stories.  I remember reading an article about how difficult Walt Disney found P.L. Travers to work with.  As I always find a  background story fascinating,  I'm greatly looking forward to this film!

Here we have the back story of a character rather than creator.  I'll admit to having a life long fascination with Disney's straight (non-comic) villains, particularly Maleficent, Queen Grimhilde(Snow White's evil step mother) and lady Tremaine (Cinderella's evil stepmother)

Well, that’s awkward: A white supremacist who made headlines worldwide for plotting to take over a town in North Dakota received the results of a DNA test — and the results say he’s 14% black.
