First accomplishment of the New year: Finally unpacked the family china shipped up after my Mother's death over five years ago and managed to find a spot for it in the already crowded china cabinet.
Being the fist child born into my family in over 40 years this brings the count up to five sets of china and four sets of silver. After working so much in catering I've actually been loathe to entertain in my own home. I wonder if it will ever see the light of day again until my own heirs unearth it.

What a lovely set! What is it? Looks British or German, but I'm rusty on patterns.
And condolences from a fellow inadvertent china/silver packrat - if I could interest the nieces and nephews, I'd offload some, but so far no luck.
The original set is Meissan, Schumann Empress Dresden from Germany with some replacement pieces culled from a set of Mittereich Meissen Floral, also from Germany.
I have to wait until some of my nieces marry then I am giving out the china as wedding presents
When you give them, be sure to include a card that specifies "No backs."
I have my own wedding china here...at my parents' house (a.k.a. "museum") is my mother's set, my Aunt Eleanor's set, and my grandma Marotta's set (I have only service for 8, I believe theirs are all for 12) -- should honestly sell the lot of it; I use mine twice a year at best and theirs have been packed up since 2007, 1993, and 1999, respectively...all are lovely, though. :(
