This peignoir, appliqued with red and pink flame like designs, was created by famous costume designer Orry-Kelly (An American in Paris, Some Like it Hot) for the 1962 film Sweet Bird of Youth, where it was worn by Geraldine Page as Alexandra Del Lago. It was used again in a 1965 episode of The Man From U.N.C.L.E. entitled The Deadly Toys Affair, where it was worn on Angela Lansbury as Elfie van Donck.
According to Moviediva, the negligĂ©e is owned by private collector John LeBold. It was on display from 1999-2000 at the American Textile History Museum at an exhibition called “Dressed for the Part, Hollywood Costumes for the Silver Screen.”
