Please help in the fight to save archival 33mm film

Beginning next year, movie studios plan to being phasing out renting 35mm prints of old movies to theatres, forcing revival theatres to show them in digital format only.  This is not how these classic films were meant to be seen, at the push of a sterile button, in a non film format - there is an online petition to hopefully stop this and here is the link for it:

An optimally struck and projected 4k DCP lags far behind film in resolution. Every time a new format becomes the standard a great number of titles are left behind.  Some titles are considered less valuable or more troublesome than others, and they may fade into oblivion or even become lost entirely.  These are dark days for film - signing the petition is at least a start to try to help save it.   Please let your cinephile friends know about it, maybe we can make a difference.  *crosses fingers*
