A castle estate found in ruins and restored brick by brick mainly as a display for newly laid out gardens. Is that too much too ask? It's early December and I am already in mourning for my garden until spring. Time to break out the gardening catalogs and maybe yet again reread Sissinghurst, Portrait of a Garden.

I love the idea of Sissinghurst... but then I think about walking from the bedroom to the kitchen - through even the loveliest garden in the world at 6:30 a.m. on a rainy English February morning. It's gorgeous, but it wasn't designed for comfort...
True Muscato, and it's design would prove even more uncomfortable in the harsher winters of New England.
I was dreaming of a full Georgian manse added on at one end of the patio.
