Sort of like Mary Worth. Just watched 2nd season episode featuring Grandpa Al Lewis as a second rate magician who wanted to use Smith in an attempt to prove he was the best magician in the universe. In the opener, Wil and Smith and Penny were playing softball. Where did Wil get a catcher's mask? I always hoped he was more of a pitcher but I digress. Where did he get a catcher's mit? Where did they get a softball? Where did Smith get a brown leather suitcase? If this equipment was considered essential by Alpha Control, it's a miracle the Jupiter II could take off. In the same episode they were sitting around inside the Jupiter II and the big, black chairs were missing from in front of the windows. I watched LIS as a young boy, younger than Wil was at the time. I don't remember how campy it was. I remember taking LIS very seriously until viewing all the episodes on ME TV over the past year.
At Toy Show in Allentown, PA this past Saturday I saw a couple robot B-9's. One was the model with claws controlled by clamps on the back, Robbies, too. There was a signed photo of June Lockhart and one of Penny's boots for sale. I've seen the collector card sets for sale there and models of the Jupiter II and the chariot. Too much money for my antiques budget.

Carlnepa I watched the show as a child and never noticed the camp. I took it very seriously and was enamored with the whole concept of a family exploring and at the same time lost in space. I loved the Jupiter 2 ac the safety it reresented,

The truth is that is when I knew I was gay. I had a thing for Wil, even though he was an *AHEM* older man, but not by much. I used to make model Jupiter II's by cutting out the glass windows and taping cellophane wrap behind two paper plates. I cut out paper tables and chairs and computers. I used silly putty containers for the bubble on top of the ship. I stapled the two plates together and made dirt run ways where it would land, imitating their first landing on an exo-planet. And, I knew that if I could just make it to 4 corners Vermont in time, I would be lifted away to their life in space and Wil wouldn't have to hang around with that creepy Dr. Smith, anymore. I would have stuck that queen in a freezing tube upon his discovery as a cast away. Ofcourse, that would have left that much more Wil for me.
Bwaaaahahahahahhahaha <--evil laugh.
Many, many years later, I got my son hooked on LIS. We both looked for bloopers, especially with the robot's cables and shared monsters and scenery with 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea. He still has the Japanese talking B-9 and Robbie models I bought for him years ago. He's 21 now. I'm still younger than Wil in real life, although now I'm the one who's creepy for being attracted to him so long ago. Well, it's probably for the best that I never did make it to Four Corners Vermont anyway.
