'The Taking of Pelham 123' (1974)

While stuck at home today, recovering from a NOT very fun medical procedure I came across this oldie but goodie in my On Demand cable package.

I remember seeing it years ago on television and it's always been stuck in my memory banks. Featuring Walter Mathau, Jerry Stiller, Martin Balsam and a brief appearance by Doris Roberts, it still makes for good watching.

This movie is one of my all-time favorites. Big Norma LOVED it and had Michael and me sit and watch it w/her every time it was on TV when we were kids. It's a total classic...how great was Robert Shaw???

Big Norma had good taste! I loved the outdoor shots and both how gritty the scenery and the people were. No Disneyfication of New York here!

have you seen the remake?

There have actually been TWO remakes and I have not and will never see them. This movie is pretty much perfection and doesn't need to be changed or updated.
