Lost in Space dream: I had a dream two nights ago that would keep the psychiatrists busy for years. In my dream I was younger. Any age is probably younger than I am now. I had hair and was more like my post teen self. Yet, I was married to the husbear who had arranged for the Jupiter II to take me for a ride for my birthday. The ship landed at our home and I boarded it along with Robot B9. When I relayed the story to my husbear, he seemed po'd that I didn't leave the robot behind with him. What the hell was he thinking? That I'd pass up spending time with the robot? Fat chance! There was a lot of activity on board and the usual cast seemed to be running around everywhere preparing for take off. The take off was strange because through the front windows I saw the scene from the first time the Jupiter II landed on a planet except in reverse. I mean the scene where the Jupiter II was coming down horizontally through what looked like a desert landscape and swaying side to side to avoid jagged peaks. It was a pretty cool sequence for 1965 b & w TV. As this take off progressed through this reverse scene, I looked out the rear port hole, which I don't ever remember being on the ship and saw not the take off I was seeing in the front, but the Jupiter II traveling around the streets where I live. We were at ground level cruising around through the neighborhood. I found my self with Will....hehehheheheh, ofcourse. Now, keep in mind that Billy Mumy would have been an OLDER man to me when Lost in Space was airing for the first time in 1965,66,& 67 so there's nothing icky about this. Truth be told, he was my first crush and truth be told he is still is way up there on my hot to trot scale. I wouldn't betray the husbear for him unless I was absolutely certain I could get away with it. I kid, I kid. We were sitting in the galley area talking and we both had the same facial features except that I was older than he was. He was at whatever age he was maybe around 1966 and I was, as I said, probably in my early 20's. As we talked, he said he had a long lost brother and as we compared facial features we both concluded I was his long lost brother. We both had elongated faces, brown hair, dark eyes. By the way, in reality I have a more rounded face, green eyes and had beautiful, shiny, full, naturally auburn hair. Well, I did at that time in my life, anyway. There was a general discussion how great it was that I was his long lost brother. Oh, remember the white haired lady from the episode where Wil transports down to Vermont and brings back a bottle of Carbon Tetrachloride? She was on board, too. I don't know why, but there she was. Maybe, because that's one of my favorite episodes. I'm also partial to The Keeper and the one with the wishing hat that the mummy type creature takes back at the end. So, here was my Lost in Space dream sequence. I thought you'd enjoy reading it. Have you ever had a dream that you were with them?
Wow Carl! there is a lot going on in there. I was always more partial to Don and John than to Will. In fact I'd have taken Judy or Penny or even Maureen over Will.
The white haired lady in the return to earth episode was the late great Reta Shaw: https://youtu.be/ysO-VVEsXrs Any trip in the Jupiter 2 would have been more enjoyable with her along.
In "Underfoot in Show Business", Helene Hanff relates how she spent a summer in a Maine stock theater where each night she ran the box office with a local teacher who got the acting bug. They could never dd the ticket sales up right and at the end of the Summer the teacher took up acting full time, Hence Reta Shaw eventually met Billy Mumy
Well, at that item and at this time now, Will was/is an older man to me. My fantasy was that I would be transported to where ever they were and that I would be the friend Will needed to help him break away from that nefarious Dr. Smith. Well, that *NEVER* happened because here I am happily living in NE PA and married to the husbear and dreaming some weird shit every once in a while. That's for the info on Reta Shaw. I knew you'd know immediately who I was referring to. She was on all the sitcoms when I was a kid.
