Inquiring minds want to know.....

In 1973 where and what sort of house were you living in, as children of tomorrow?

We grew up here in East Boston:

In a common to Boston, architectural gem known as a "three decker"

No central control panel, no electric heat(in New England? Thank GOD! That stuff is EXPENSIVE!), no tanning lights just lots of relatives, both upstairs and down, little privacy and lots of fun.

You know I like both, your child hood abode and also the 1973 version.

1973 I was living in a shack

In 1973, I was four years old and I already had known you for years, Anthony. I was privileged to grow up 7 houses away from my dear IlDuce in the somewhat more exclusive city dwelling known as the two family...in a 5 room, 2 bedroom apt (and my suburban friends then and now STILL cannot believe that my brother and I shared a bedroom until I was 16 when my parents asked my aunt upstairs if I could have her spare room) with the obligatory postage stamp lawn, charcoal barbeque on the piazza and all my friends & tons of family a stone's throw away. I always thought a fascinating thing about growing up where we did, AJV, was that there were people who had barely left the neighborhood their entire lives able to watch airplanes from all over the world taking off and landing every day.

Oh yes! the higher social scale "two" family, only to be outdone by a single family, that's when you know you've arrived!

I remember sitting and watching those planes take off, fueling my dreams to travel. It really was/is a great view especially at night with the city skyline lit up.

Out of towners still can't believe how close our airport is to the city!
